TRANSCRIPTION OF WILLIAM ABBOTT / SARAH ABBOTT MARRIAGE DOCUMENTS

Ibstock 22 August 1835

This is to certify that I William Abbott of Ibstock in the County of Leicester do hereby give my full consent to the Marriage of my daughter Sarah Abbott of Ibstock aforesaid Spinster with Thomas Cox Wadland of Hallerton in the same County Gentleman.

LICENSE

On the fifth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five

Appeared personally Thomas Cox Wadland of Hallerton in the County of Leicester Gentleman of the age of eighteen years and upwards but under the age of twenty one years and a bachelor and prayed a License for the solemniation in the Parish Church of Hallerton in the County of Leicester between him and Sarah Abbott of Ibstock in the County of Leicester of the age of eighteen years and upwards but under the age of twenty one years and a Spinster

and made oath that he believeth that there is no impediment of kindred or alliance, or of any other lawful cause, nor any suit commenced in any ecclesiastical Court to bar of hinder the processing of the said Matrimony according to the Tenor of such License. And he further made oath that he the said Thomas Cox Wadland hath had his usual place of abode within the sad Parish of Hallerton for the space of fifteen days last past.

the despondent made oath the consent of William Abbott of Ibstock aforesaid comedian the natural and lawful father of the said Sarah Abbott hath been had and obtained to such marriage. And the deposent further made oath that he hath no further living or guardian of his person lawfully appointed or mother living and unmarried or guardian of his person appointed by the court Chancery and having authority to consent to his marriage.
