Transcribed Letter from Howard C. Abbott to his brother Herbert T. Abbott by David Abbott March 2003
Tues. Aug 6, 1946
Herbert I am sorry to inform you that your mother was buried this afternoon. Funeral services were held at "Jones & Hurt Mortuary" successor to Blassengym. She talked to them before she passed away & made her own plans. She wanted a private funeral and her wish was carried out as near as possible. People attending funeral were Mr & Mrs. Collier, Ed's wife, Bud was located in time to attend & Dad, Beulah, Edith & me. The funeral was brief but the Minister did justice to the occasion. She was laid to rest about 100 ft. from sister Beulah. Under the circumstances she was laid away as well as anyone with moderate means could do. I helped in every way I could in seeing she had a decent burial.
