Generation One

 

 

1.  David1 MAIN; born 3 Sep 1819 Ohio; married Susan Troutner, daughter of John Troutner and Elizabeth Heath, 27 Jan 1842 Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; have copy of marriage license.

     He was Farmer. He was brought to Illinois at the age of eight years. He appeared on the census of 5 Jun 1880 S. D. 6; E. D. 187; Page 14, Hardin Township, Pike County, Illinois; David age 67 Farmer Susan age 54 (wife) keeping house Charles age 23 (son) farmer Lucius age 19 (son) farmer Hardin age 18 (son) Emma age 14 (daughter) Troutner, Elizabeth age 88 (mother-in-law).

 

     Susan TROUTNER was born in 1826. She was also known as Main. She was also known as Aunt Tooky.

     The six children of David1 Main and Susan Troutner were as follows:

            2        i.    John William2, born Mar 1848 Illinois; married Josephine Catherine Long.

            3        ii.    Charles, married Fanny Farmer.

                     iii.    Andrew was also known as Coon. Unmarried.  Killed in a fight at Monte Grant's.

                     iv.    James Unmarried.

            4        v.    D. Hardin, born circa 1862; married Margaret Jane Brennan.

            5       vi.    Emily Marie, born 1867; married Frank Elbert Springer.

 

Generation Two

 

 

2.  John William2 MAIN (David1); born Mar 1848 Illinois; married Josephine Catherine Long, daughter of Abner Long, 29 Aug 1869 Joseph Troutner was Justice of the Peace, Pike County, Illinois; have copy of marriage license.  last name on the marriage license is 'Mains;' died 1924 Illinois; buried 1924 Hunter Nebo Cemetery, Springcreek Township, Pike County, Illinois; have picture of grave marker.

     He was also known as Cyclone Bill. He was Straw Stacker at a threshing machine (from which came the nickname). He Lived in Hardin Township.

 

     Josephine Catherine LONG was born in 1850 Pennsylvania. She died in 1929 Illinois. She was buried in 1929 Hunter Nebo Cemetery, Springcreek Township, Pike County, Illinois; have picture of grave marker.

     The nine children of John William2 Main and Josephine Catherine Long were as follows:

                      i.    Laura3; born circa 1870 Illinois; married John Milton Abbott, son of John Hamilton Abbott and Almina Sellers, 8 Dec 1895 Pike County, Illinois; died before 1955.

     She was also known as ABBOTT.

            6        ii.    Dora M, born 1874 Illinois; married Douglas Crawford.

                     iii.    Clay A; born Jun 1875 Illinois; died before 1955.

                     iv.    Sarah F; born circa 1878; died before 1955.

     She Never Married.  They called her Sadie.

                      v.    Willie Belle; born Jul 1881 Pike County, Illinois; died 2 Oct 1974 at home, E. St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois, at age 93; buried 4 Oct 1974 Hunter Nebo Cemetery, Springdreek Township, Pike County, Illinois; have picture of grave marker, and copy of obituary.

     She Never married.  Lived in E. St. Louis, Illinois.

                     vi.    Addie M; born Mar 1884 Illinois; married (--?--) Rolf.

     She was also known as ROLF. She Lived in Australia.  Lived in St. Louis later in the 1950's.

                    vii.    Oma S; born Mar 1888; married (--?--) Wolfe.

     She was also known as WOLFE.

            7      viii.    Archie Clyde, born Mar 1891 Illinois; married Helen Yakley.

                     ix.    Verna; born Oct 1893 Illinois; died 2 Dec 1975 East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois, at age 82; buried 4 Dec 1975 Hunter Nebo Cemetery, Springcreek, Pike County, Illinois; have picture of grave marker, and copy of obituary.

     He Lived in E. Saint Louis, Illinois.  Never married. He was (an unknown value) Elementary School Teacher.

 

3.  Charles2 MAIN (David1); married Fanny Farmer.

     He was Policeman, Pittsfield, Illinois; later Santa Fe Railroad, Arizona.

 

     Fanny FARMER was also known as Main. She was Teacher at Pleasant Grove School about 1897.

     The only child of Charles2 Main and Fanny Farmer was:

                      i.    Roy3.

 

4.  D. Hardin2 MAIN (David1); born circa 1862; married Margaret Jane Brennan; died circa 1934.

     He was Farmer; Fiddler for dances; Owned  store at Time, Montezuma, New Hartford.

 

     Margaret Jane BRENNAN was born in 1862 Nebo. She died in 1955 Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois..

     The eight children of D. Hardin2 Main and Margaret Jane Brennan were as follows:

                      i.    Lee Ola3; born circa 1888; married (--?--) Burns Strathmore, California.

                      ii.    Nola M; born circa 1890; married (--?--) Bleakley Amarillo, Texas; died before 1977.

     She Lived in Amarillo, Texas.

            8      iii.    Bert, born circa 1892 Illinois; married Edith Blanche Blacketter.

                     iv.    Ethel; married (--?--) Harmon Amarillo, Texas; died before 1977.

     She Lived in Amarillo, Texas.

                      v.    Viva; born circa 1894 Illinois; married (--?--) Rawley Pittsfield, Pike County, Illinois; died after 1977.

     She Had several children.

                     vi.    Francis 'Frank' F; born circa 1895 Illinois.

                    vii.    Lena E; born circa 1897 Illinois; married (--?--) Lindsey Kansas City, Missouri.

    

                    viii.    Carl; born circa 1899 Illinois.

 

5.  Emily Marie2 MAIN (David1); born 1867; married Frank Elbert Springer; died 1942.

     She was also known as Emma.

     The 10 children of Emily Marie2 Main and Frank Elbert Springer were as follows:

                      ii.    David; born 1890; married Ann Shadow; married Myrtle Ford; died before 1956 Evansville, Indiana.

           10      iii.    Edna, born 1892; married Ernest Chute.

           11        v.    Virgil, born 1896; married Bertha Ransom.

                     vi.    Bracy.

                    vii.    Othoa.

           12      viii.    Francis E, born 1898; married Sarah Margaret Peel.

                     ix.    Inez; born 1905; married Thomas Richards; died before 1956.

                     x.    Ivy; born 1905.

     She Lived in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1956.
